If you're in the New England area, are you experiencing crazy levels of allergies this week!? I certainly have heard from a lot of friends and acquaintances that this past week as them sneezing, stuffed up and congested more than ever. I was ok though :)
Are you interested in natural allergy solutions to manage your allergies? For me, I certainly took the journey into minimizing my allergies earlier this year using natural alternatives. I tried herbal teas, tinctures, changed my diet, and final started using essential oils. What worked for me the most was the essential oils, I know it sounds a little crazy!
We think of essential oils as being nice-smelling and for creating a spa experience. Most of us don't perceive them as powerful tools and change agents.
Skepticism is born out of not understanding, so that's why my main goal is to educate others and let them draw their own conclusions from the information.
If we open up to this idea, we become empowered and confident that we have a natural solution to our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual ailments. I'd say it's much more optimistic to live this way rather than feel powerless. :)
It's because in Western society we are programmed to be skeptical of anything that isn't scientifically proven. Especially in the Boston area, with all of the focus on academia, there is an perception that medicine is only powerful if it is prescribed from a doctor or made from chemicals. Now when you stop to think about that, based on your own experience is that always true?
In my experience I didn't feel that allergy solutions I was getting from my primary care doctor were helping, in fact they were actually prolonging the symptoms. For example, Flo-nase was prescribed to me and it was actually keeping me all stuffed up increasing mucus production.
So I turned to nettle leaf tea, known for its allergy reducing benefits, but it was laborious to keep brewing the tea and keep drinking it all day. I also had to keep buying bulk amounts of this tea! Not efficient though it was effective.
Next, I tried these herbs in the form of tinctures. Tinctures are a concentrated version of the herbs, and you can take 25-30 drops in water 3 times per day. This was a little better except I was still running out of tinctures pretty quickly, plus I had to remember to take this 3 times a day, not so convenient while I was out or traveling.
Finally, I did some research into what essential oils help relieve allergies, because I learned that essential oils are the purest form of the plant and most potent. Using the big book The Essential Life, I found that lemon, lavender, and peppermint were the power trio for allergies. I started making my own allergy capsules using veggie caps and coconut oil, using 3 drops of each (2 times a day) to see if this would work.
After taking them this way I noticed positive results, no more allergies and some days when the pollen was high I would take 2 of these capsules. This proved to be laborious too though and I wouldn't have the capsules and bottles of oil when I was out or traveling.
Which brought me to TriEase, DoTERRA's allergy supplement which is made with the power trio, lemon, lavender and peppermint. Softgels that are ready made, and contain only herbal plants and essential oils. These were the game-changer. I finally found a natural allergy alternative to chemical allergy medicines, that worked and was convenient to take.
I want you to realize the power in this allergy solution a lot quicker than I did! The results were instant and I wished I had started at this point, but I knew from trial and experience that was how I was led to these supplements. These are also very affordable at wholesale prices, they are lower than your typical allergy medicine choice.
One other oil I used on my body on days where the pollen was high was DoTERRA's Breathe, the respiratory blend. Another powerful natural allergy solution. Putting this on my nose and chest cleared my airways and relieved the redness and watering in my eyes.
I use an essential oil vaporizer that contains peppermint and eucalyptus, it clears airways in a non drying way. You can buy these at some health food stores or make your own! It looks like a Vicks inhaler
