In quarantine, I've taken my holistic oral care routine to the next level. I'm going to share with you non-toxic and holistic ways to take care of your teeth in this post.
Our oral health is more important than we realize, and can easily get overlooked in our wellness routines. It actually hosts a lot of bacteria and is connected to heart health.
We can tell a lot from our mouth actually for what's out of balance. Like candida overgrowth, for instance, shows up as white matter on our tongue. It's actually a lot easier than you think to take care of your teeth, gums, and mouth using pure essential oils.
Growing up, I tried a lot of chemical conventional products and natural products too. I used Crest white strips and whitening toothpaste, and then I noticed my teeth were super sensitive after using these harsh chemicals for years. So I switched to sensitive toothpaste but it didn't make that much of a difference.
Two years ago, was when I started my transition to a non-toxic oral care routine. It all started when I learned about natural non-foaming toothpaste based in essential oils. It was more of a paste and it was putty-colored, no chemicals, dyes, whatsoever.
It was still whitening though and used essential oils like clove, cinnamon, and wild orange which support teeth health as well as reduce bacteria and boost immunity. After just one use, I noticed less residue and fuzziness on my teeth than ever before. I also was recommended by my dentist to find a non-foaming toothpaste and this fit the bill.
This opened my eyes to effective natural solutions and I started turning everyone on around me to this toothpaste.
After years of frustration with natural oral products I had tried that were ineffective and/or gross tasting, I was so happy to realize that there were alternatives in essential oil-based oral care products.
I feel healthier using these gifts of the earth this way too, and when I hear from my dentist that my teeth are healthy I get that confirmation that it works!
There are also Ayurvedic tools I started using during quarantine, I had known about them for years but it wasn't now that I realized my total health is a priority - and that includes oral health.
Here are some simple ways to take care of your oral health!

Floss with non-toxic and plant-based floss
Rinse with Lumineux mouth wash
I don't oil pull every day, usually a few times a month. I like to use sesame oil because sesame oil doesn’t go hard at colder temps - you can spit this right in the toilet when you’re done.
If you’re using coconut oil - you will need to spit into the trash otherwise you’ll clog your plumbing. I like to add a few drops of oil to my mouth and add 1 drop of doTERRA peppermint or clove essential for added cleansing benefits. I swish it around for 5 minutes!

Sharing doTERRA in a dental hygiene office
Is your dentist interested in integrating doTERRA in the clinic?
The OnGuard line is the most popular collection within doTERRA which is a community of over 8 million customers around the world.
The toothpaste and mouthwash are the highest quality you will find in the natural health space. Here is a collection of research done on the oils in OnGuard Whitening Toothpaste.
Here is a great article about how to diffuse anxious feelings in the dental office.
Notes for clinics looking to integrate:
Dentists can have an office wholesale account opened up that is run by the receptionist, to order doTERRA at the wholesale price + sell in a retail space within the clinic at least 10% higher than the wholesale price.
Here is more info from the doTERRA policy manual about selling at retail from within the clinic.
Alternately, the clinic can offer patients the option of ordering doTERRA at wholesale to their own home. To do this, someone at the clinic must be registered as a wellness advocate.
I have the simple steps for how to open up a wholesale account right here.
