Frankincense is often referred to as the king of oils, and rightfully so! It has a variety of powerful health and wellness uses that have been used for more than centuries. Almost all ancient religions have used Frankincense in their spiritual practices including ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, and Buddhists. It was valuable enough to be a gift to Christ!
Frankincense is a resin derived from the Boswellia tree, native to Somalia, Ethiopia, northern Somalia, south-western Oman, and southern Yemen. doTERRA sources 4 different types of Frankincense ethically and sustainably from Somalia. doTERRA carefully scores the tree, which emits a sap-like substance with a high viscosity. The tree is carefully bled, unlike in the past where growers would slash the tree and cut incisions in order to get as much resin as possible.
Emotionally, Frankincense is the oil of truth as it reveals deceptions and false truths. According to to my favorite Emotions and Essential Oils book, it invites individuals to let go of lower vibrations, lies, deceptions and negativity. For seizures and trauma, put a drop under the tongue and apply along hairline
For Alzheimer's disease, dementia, brain injury, use topically or apply under nose and back of neck or diffuse
For wound healing and wrinkles apply to to support skin regeneration
For scars and stretch marks, combine with myrrh and apply to reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks
