Cinnamon is a spice that's been around for centuries, and it was highly prized in ancient civilizations such as Egypt and regarded as a gift fit for monarchs and even for the gods. Cinnamon was desired for certain practices such as embalming and even witchcraft - makes sense why I like it so much! Now it's much more commonly found, and to be quite honest I appreciate Cinnamon just as much as those kings in ancient times!
A sweet and spicy flavor, it's known for its staple use in desserts, entrees, and beverages. What I love most about Cinnamon is that it provides a potent sweet flavor, without any sugar involved! This is what makes it a prime weight management tool to suppress appetite, and on a chemical constituent level it provides metabolism support.
Cinnamon is derived from a tropical, evergreen tree that grows up to 45 feet high and has highly fragrant bark, leaves, and flowers. doTERRA's Cinnamon Bark essential oil is sourced from the lush and tropical trees on the island of Madagascar.
Due to its high content of cinnamaldehyde, Cinnamon is a hot oil and should be diluted with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil when applied to the skin and only one to two drops are needed for internal benefits.*
While we know Cinnamon for it's flavoring, we don't think of it as also being a support for immune function, insect repellent, and aphrodisiac! It's versatile uses make it a staple oil to have on hand.
Emotionally, Cinnamon Bark is the oil of sexual harmony. Especially for those with trust issues, stemming from past experiences, this warming oil encourages one to be open, vulnerable and willing to trust again with those in integrity.
For those with cold extremities like myself, adding a drop of Cinnamon to lotion or fractionated coconut oil and applying after the shower provides warmth and circulation to muscles. This is one of my favorite self care practices.
With its antiseptic qualities, Cinnamon Bark also supports oral health. Cinnamon is frequently used in mouth rinses and gums, that why it's found in doTERRA's On Guard toothpaste and mouthwash! Due to Cinnamon Bark oil’s natural cleansing properties, gargling 1 drop in 2 ounces of water will leave your mouth feeling fresh and clean.
Cinnamon supports urinary and vaginal health, when taken internally in a capsule. In this same way it supports healthy kidney function when taken internally as well. These are some helpful studies that show the powerful benefits of Cinnamon based on its chemical constituent, Cinnamaldehyde.
For those with diabetes, Cinnamon also supports in a healthy blood sugar level when taken internally. With its ability to provide circulatory support, taking Cinnamon internally provides support for cholesterol and heart issues.
With its antimicrobial, antiviral, and antifungal properties, Cinnamon provides an immune support with cold symptoms and helps clear from fungus or bacteria when taken internally.
Cinnamon Bark provides a variety of health benefits on a holistic level, through its aromatic, topical, and internal application.*
