Blue Tansy Essential Oil

#Tanacetumannuum #bluetansy

Blue Tansy, also known as Moroccan Tansy, is a more recent addition in doTERRA's collection, having only been added as a single essential oil in 2017. Prior it was only found in the Deep Blue blend and Balance Grounding blend. It's not to be confused with Tanacetum vulgare or common tansy oil, which has a very different chemical make-up. It's name is partly derived from it's color, a deep indigo blue.

It's chemical constituent, chamazulene, gives it this beautiful shade of blue. Chamazulene is also found in Yarrow | Pom! Tansy comes from the Greek word "Athanaton" meaning immortal. It lives up to that name as it supports healthy and youthful skin.

Especially in high-end skin care, Blue Tansy is a highly coveted natural ingredient due to its ability to promote a clear complexion. It's chemical constituent Sabinene supports to diminish blemishes, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Blue Tansy is part of the chamomile family, along with Roman Chamomile and German Chamomile. While it comes from a yellow-flowered plant, it's sometimes referred to as "Moroccan Blue Chamomile."

Chamazulene is actually formed during steam distillation, which explains why the oils are blue but the plants they come from are not. Of all the chamomile oils, Blue Tansy is the oil with the greatest chamazulene content. This means that it has the most powerful soothing effect, both emotionally and physically.

Because it is has a high concentration of chamazulene, it can turn our skin blue if we over do it, so a little goes a long way. In fact, diluting it with a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil is the best way to use it topically. This is not an essential oil we can use internally.

Aromatically, Blue Tansy has a sweet and warm aroma that is calming for the mind, body, and spirit. It's known for being a great defender and eliminator, as its' chemical constituent Sabinine supports a healthy immune function and response, skin support, as well as a powerful antioxidant support.

doTERRA Blue Tansy essential oil is sourced in northern Morocco, where the subtropical climate and cooling ocean breezes create the perfect growing conditions for the plant.

Blue Tansy is incredibly calming to the nervous system, and it's a wonderful oil to use at night before sleeping, especially in your daily skin care routine. Emotionally, Blue Tansy is the oil of inspired action. It supports those who resist taking action to change or transform their circumstances, particularly in procrastinating. Sound familiar?

What it does is provide a shockwave to shakes us out of our habit of avoiding or vacillating. It helps us to align with the whisperings of our inner voice, our intuition. Interestingly enough, when we ignore these messages, we feel drained, lethargic and exhausted. With Blue Tansy, we are supported to take initiative to design our own life where we are naturally energized by our passions.

Blue Tansy brings the action required to make these changes. This beautiful blue hued oil has plenty of science to back it up, check out doTERRA's study on it here.
