10 Essential Oils for Self-Acceptance

#selfacceptance #selflove

The greatest relationship you must keep is with yourself.

As I'm progressing in my fall group coaching course with Tiffany Peterson called The Success Academy, I'm learning more and more about myself and how to live a balanced life while also running my own business.

One of the recurring themes that myself and other women in the group have brought up is one of self-acceptance. What that means to me is making choices for myself that don't require validation or approval from anyone else.

It's impossible to get from where you are to where you want to be, without accepting where you are first. One affirmation we learned this week, as many of us in the group are recovering perfectionists (it's an epidemic), is "I accept myself as a work in progress, or even a masterpiece in progress"

When you bring in a big change you want to manifest in your life, it's so easy to compare yourself to where others are in your field especially when you're not there yet. As a recovering perfectionist, and a secondary Type 4 in Energy profiling, I'm always looking to where something needs to be improved, or fixed, and what's the next thing I need to achieve. It's in my design!

Successful people, I learned this week, accept their current circumstances as temporary and not their final destination. Success doesn't happen overnight and it will take so much self-love and acceptance on the journey. In fact, Tiffany Peterson told me it's only about the journey! Making it fun and meaningful is what it's all about.

What happens when you don't have self acceptance? You have despair, self-judgment, and low self-esteem. Successful people have high self-esteem and confidence, and they are hopeful. So this is a crucial mindset and awareness to change for anyone that wants to be happy and successful!

My question this week on the coaching call was how do I separate my self-worth from my business, an issue I believe many can relate to. Especially because I'm so passionate about everything that I do. Tiffany said that I must find my joy in other areas of my life, outside of my work. I really thought back to this and where that is for me: my art work, traveling, spending time with family and friends, volunteering, meeting new people experiencing new places, crafting, writing, being in nature and cooking. Then everything else will naturally balance. I must live in the joy of service to others and this is the way success naturally flows.

Self-acceptance is tenderness and non-judgment towards yourself, and therefore it's true freedom. It's supporting yourself as your own best friend, and talking to yourself in that same way. I loved how Tiffany shared how she says "What do you need sweetheart?" to herself in these times of self-judgment and despair. It's that level of tenderness and sweetness towards yourself!

Essential oils have been some of my biggest support tools. Essential oils are volatile aromatic compounds, that from purely an energy perspective, vibrate at a high frequency and bring about high-vibrational situations and emotions while driving out negative or low vibration frequency and situations. They shift emotional states quickly (22 seconds!) by releasing negative emotions first in order to foster optimism and other positive emotions.

In other words, they are natural healers. They don't repress emotions they actually process them and release to experience true healing.

One of the top essential oils I've made sure to always have on hand is Bergamot. According to the book Emotions & Essential Oils, this is The Oil of Self-Acceptance. It supports individuals in need of self-love, and invites individuals to see life with more optimism.

It has a cleansing effect on stagnant feelings and limiting belief systems. Because of core beliefs of being bad, unlovable, and not good enough, individuals seek to hide behind a facade of cheerfulness. Can anyone else relate?

In this way Bergamot is wonderful for those who feel down and hopeless. It reignites optimism and confidence in the self. I love to use this oil in the diffuser during the day and night. You can also just sniff straight from the bottle and get the same effects.

I recently heard from another Wellness Advocate that if you really want to be balanced and well especially during times of stress and transition, you should be applying your oils every hour on the hour. It can be easy to forget, but I promise if you implement this when you remember you will really see results for yourself.

If you're in need of practicing self-acceptance, try one of these essential oils below. As many of you know, I only work with ethical, conscious, and sustainably made high quality brands, so doTERRA are the essential oils I recommend and work with. Bergamot: The Oil of Self-Acceptance. Wonderful for those who feel down and hopeless, it awakens the soul to hope and offers courage to share the inner self. It teaches us to love ourselves unconditionally, and I find this to be beautiful.

Grapefruit: It teaches true respect and appreciation for one's physical body. Issues of the psyche get buried in the body, so it addresses body acceptance and nourishment through self-acceptance

Slim & Sassy Metabolic Blend (Grapefruit Peel, Lemon Peel, Peppermint Plant, Ginger Root, and Cinnamon): The Oil of Inner Beauty. It supports individuals in releasing heavy emotions which contribute to physical and emotional pounds. This encourages you to find feelings of self-worth.

Lemon: Clears self-judgments especially in cases of learning issues, it clears "I'm dumb" and fears and insecurities, in turn restoring confidence in self

Jasmine: It asks individuals to honor and respect themselves and others. It cultivates positive experiences, trust, safety, and healing

Patchouli: Brings confidence in the body, as well as grace, poise, and physical strength. On the deepest level, Patchouli assists an individual to feel at peace while being present in their physical body.

Hope Blend (Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense, Vanilla Bean Absolute): The Oil of Overcoming. It addresses feelings of being unloved, unworthy, abandoned, and full of shame. It helps overcome emotions associated with trauma, while revealing the truth that individuals are not their story, their pain, or even their experiences.

Forgive Renewing Blend (Spruce, Bergamot, Juniper Berry, Myrrh, Arborvitae, Nootka Tree Wood, Thyme, Citronella): Self-forgiveness I've learned, is similar on par with self-acceptance. Sometimes we are withholding forgiveness from ourselves, and this blocks us from manifesting what we desire. It teaches that forgiving actually sets one free.

Peace Reassuring Blend (Vetiver, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense, Clary Sage, Marjoram, Labdanum, Spearmint): This oil instills spiritual connectedness, and invites individuals to connect to the true source of unending peace and let go of control and excess attachments in order to experience the incredible peace that flows from the Divine.

Geranium: The Oil of Love and Trust, it restores confidence in the innate goodness of others in the world. It could be called the "emotional healer" I have been loving this one, especially because it facilitates trust, when trust has been lost due to difficult life circumstances.
