Jasmine Essential Oil

#jasmine #Jasminumgrandiflorum

Jasmine is known as Queen of the Night, because it typically blossoms at night and the blossoms must be hand-picked the morning after, when the chemical compounds are most aromatic. Since I love all exotic and musky scents, Jasmine is one my top favorite essential oils.

It has an uplifting yet delicate floral scent which makes it a popular scent in the fragrance industry, found in Chanel Number 5, Marc Jacobs Daisy (used to my favorite perfume in high school!), and Calvin Klein Obsession. The essential oil from doTERRA has the added health benefits from being a pure form of the plant.

Jasmine is actually extracted as an absolute, and not steam distilled like most essential oils, because doing so would destroy it's unique chemical properties. By being produced as an absolute, the wax and paraffin are first separated out using a solvent and then alcohol to make the final product most potent.

With doTERRA's sourcing, the flowers are hand-picked in Egypt where they grow in abundance. Watch the sourcing video below to see how the local women that pick Jasmine enjoy the social aspect of their work!

It takes 21,000 freshly picked petals to produce a 5 mL bottle of Jasmine absolute, which is why it comes in a touch roller at doTERRA diluted with fractionated coconut oil, as an easier and affordable option. There are over 200 varieties of Jasmine, and doTERRA Jasmine is sourced in Egypt from Royal Jasmine flower petals (Jasminum grandiflorum). Royal Jasmine is the most sought after fragrance in the perfume and aromatherapy industries, due to it's potent aroma.

Jasmine evokes a powerful emotional response in euphoria, romance, and splendor. They're associated with bridal bouquets and also with religious ceremonies where they're used to adorn shrines at Buddhist and Hindu temples. Historically, Jasmine has been used in Ayurvedic medicine to alleviate stress and depression.

Jasmine is also the oil of sexual purity and balance, by purifying toxic sexual intentions and cultivating positive experiences in intimate relationships. It helps those that fear or resist the sexual experience, either do to trauma or sexual repression. It fosters trust, safety, self-acceptance, healing and intimacy.

Physically it helps with supporting the urinary system, ovulation, hormones and skin. Many times when we feel unmotivated or stressed it's due to our hormones being out of balance. Personally I love to use Jasmine as support if I'm ever feeling gloomy or unsatisfied with life. All feelings are temporary, however these can be hard to overcome.

So using Jasmine oil gets me back to feelings of a positive outlook and trusting in my life's path! I also use it for PMS, and as my personal fragrance.
