Derived from the tall evergreen tree, Cypress is a refreshing and woody essential oil that has a multitude of uses and benefits for our overall holistic health.

Cypress is often used in spas, especially in massage oil, for its skin soothing and relaxing properties. The Tuscan Cypress (which doTERRA sources from in Morocco and France!) is most recognizable in front of the cemetery in Van Gogh's most famous work, Starry Night. In fact, because of its upright form and evergreen features, the Cypress tree is commonly used for cemetery landscaping.

Imagine the fresh forest air hitting your face in the morning - that's Cypress in a nutshell for you! Using it in a diffuser creates a grounded and peaceful atmosphere in your environment.

Cypress has skin soothing properties and is particularly helpful with combating oily skin. Used as a toner, adding one to two drops of Cypress essential oil to your face in your daily routine will soak up the shiny glow from too much oil. Using Cypress can also clear varicose veins and cellulite, using the recipes below in this post.

In addition, it's a urinary system support, circulation system support, respiratory support,

Which makes sense, because emotionally, it's the oil of motion and flow! It's a mover and shaker when things are feeling stagnant and stuck. Particularly with adapting to transitions, Cypress creates energetic flow by letting go of the past through emotional catharsis.

Energetically, it's a very fluid oil, which helps individuals who are stuck (in mental or emotional ways), rigid or prone to perfectionistic tendencies. As the root cause of those tendencies is fear, Cypress helps release it along with the need to control, and to trust in the flow of life.

When you need revitalizing energy, either to just work out or to complete a professional or creative project, Cypress is there to assist you. Cypress is also a powerful healer in relieving anxious thoughts and turbulent emotions such as anger.

It's integumentary support along with its ability to create movement in the urinary, reproductive, and circulation systems is what makes Cypress such a versatile oil to have in your collection.
